Accessibility
statement
The Archive Trust wants the website to be usable by as many people as possible. We aim to meet level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, and we test the site for accessibility as we develop it.
How accessible this site is
Most of the site can be operated with a keyboard alone and works with a screen reader. Every page has a “skip to main content” link, supports a light and a dark theme, and reflows for small screens. The audio player exposes its controls and playback position to assistive technology, and synchronised transcripts can be navigated by keyboard.
If you need text larger, the site responds to your browser’s zoom and font-size settings. If you turn on “reduce motion” in your operating system, the site’s animations are switched off.
Known limitations
- The transcripts shown with recordings are generated automatically and may contain errors, particularly with technical terms, proper names and notation. They are labelled as such, and we welcome corrections.
- Some content comes from third parties — embedded videos (YouTube) and the separate online catalogue — which may not fully meet the same standards.
- We review accessibility as the site develops and fix issues as they are found.
Reporting a problem
If you find an accessibility barrier, or need information from the site in a different format, please email [email protected]. We will do our best to reply promptly and to provide what you need.
Technical information
This website aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 level AA. It is partially conformant: most of the site meets AA, and we are addressing the remaining issues as part of ongoing development. The site is built with standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
